This website isn’t meant to be used by anyone under the age of 13. We don’t email children or ask for their personal information.

This policy may be updated in the future, in which case we’ll update its publication date. You can review this policy at any time to make sure you’re happy with how your personal information is being used.

Information Collection

You can use our website without providing any personal information. However, if you want to contact us, join our support network, or share your story, you’ll need to provide a certain amount of information to complete those activities. Our information requirements are listed below.

Forms

Your personal information is collected when you fill out the contact form, the support network form, or the story submission form. We only ask for the information below. We won’t ever ask you for your SIN, financial information, or similarly sensitive personal information.

Name: You can provide a name, initials, alias, or other identifier of your choice when filling out any of the forms listed above.
Email Address: If you’re filling out the contact form, we’ll only use your email address for the purpose of responding to your message. If you’re requesting support, we’ll share your email address with a small group of support provider families for the sole purpose of them contacting you to provide support. If you’re providing support, we’ll use your email address to contact you whenever someone asks for support for your shared loss type.
Loss Experienced: If you’re filling out the story submission form, you can check off the type of loss you believe applies to you. This will allow us to categorize your story so parents can find the types of stories that best relate to them. When you provide this same information in the support network form, it allows us to pair you with families who have experienced the same or a similar type of loss.
Faith-Based Support: Knowing your preference for faith-based support allows us to pair you with families who want to receive or provide the same type of support.
Support Preference: By knowing whether you want to receive or provide support, we’re able to pair you with families accordingly.
Loss Story: If you fill out the story submission form, you can decide how much or how little detail you’d like to include in the story itself. This information will be published as a post on the website, so be certain you’re comfortable with this before submitting your story. We understand that this is personal health information, and by submitting the form, you are consenting to share it on the website as a publicly visible post.
Message: If you fill out the contact form, you can share any question, comment, or other message you’d like. The information you provide in this field is completely up to you.
IP Address: This information is automatically collected when you complete a form submission, but we don’t actively collect it for any purpose. Jetpack does use it to provide anonymously presented information about page views, post views, and website visits.

The email distribution practices we use are in line with Canadian Anti-spam Legislation (CASL). We use MailChimp to distribute emails for our support network, and they’re CASL compliant, too.

Analytics

We use Jetpack through WordPress to gather information about website interactions and traffic, including the following.

None of this information identifies specific people. We use these analytics to help us improve our website and the resources and services we offer.

Information Sharing

The information below may be shared for the following purposes only.

Name: Your name, initials, alias, or other identifier of your choice will be shared when you fill out the story submission form or support network form. This identifier will be attached to your story when it’s published, or it’ll be given to your support network contacts for the purposes of providing you with the support you requested. You can choose the identifier you provide to ensure you’re comfortable with it.
Email Address: If you’re filling out the contact form, we’ll only use your email address for the purpose of responding to your message. If you’re requesting support, we’ll share your email address with a small group of support provider families for the sole purpose of them contacting you to provide support. If you’re providing support, we’ll use your email address to contact you whenever someone asks for support for your shared loss type. If you aren’t comfortable sharing your personal email address for the support network, we recommend setting up a throwaway email account. We would just ask you to check that inbox regularly or forward emails to your main account to ensure communications don’t get lost.

We use Jetpack for website analytics and MailChimp for support network email distribution. We only share the personal information you’ve provided with these third-party services if you gave permission. We may share analytics with partners to demonstrate how much and how often people are using the site; however, this data is anonymous and won’t identify any specific users.

Some third-party companies may store their information in other other countries that have different data protection regulations, and these countries may not have data protection laws like yours. If you’re concerned, you can learn more about data protection practices in other countries.

We won’t share, rent, trade, transfer, or give your personal information to anyone outside of the Waiting on Sunrise team. If law enforcement or government agencies require us to share that information by law, however, those situations aren’t included in this policy.

Information Maintenance

You can change or delete your personal information at any time by contacting babylossresources@gmail.com.

You can unsubscribe from our support network emails at any time by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of our emails. This only includes emails sent from babylossresources@gmail.com. You may still get personal emails from a Waiting on Sunrise representative, but if you no longer want to receive these, you can ask us to stop emailing you.

Information Protection

Your information is kept safe and is accessed only by the Waiting on Sunrise team, who is required to keep that information confidential. Our industry-standard information protection practices ensure your information can’t be accessed, changed, shared, or deleted without getting your permission first. If there’s ever a data breach, we’ll tell you within three business days of discovering it. That way you can take action accordingly.
