My Worst Nightmare: Karina & David’s Story

It was my third pregnancy, completely healthy and routine. I had a checkup with my obstetrician at 38.5 weeks and she found a strong heartbeat. Just four days later, my four-year-old drew attention to the fact that I hadn’t felt movement from the baby in some time. After trying to encourage movement, without success, I went to the hospital.

My worst nightmare was confirmed through an ultrasound. My baby had no heartbeat. I was exactly 39 weeks along and had expected to hold a healthy baby in my arms in just a short time. Instead, I delivered a stillborn son, Benjamin Job, two days later.
